Projects designed for sustainability
OUR INITIATIVES
WHAT WE DO
Our programmes and initiatives include:
1. Household Food Security Programmes
These programmes are focused on the impoverished households in rural and semi-rural communities, to educate and empower them in various ways to grow their own food for consumption and as a way of making an income. Understanding that one cannot educate to empower somebody on an empty stomach, our initial core focus in these programmes is therefore on addressing their current hunger and malnutrition concerns. First, we feed them and then we educate and empower them to feed themselves.
2. Training & Education Initiatives
These are special education and training programmes designed to assist learners from disadvantaged backgrounds to gain a fair advantage to their peers in urban developed areas. This is achieved by providing various innovative initiatives in partnership with other organisations and partners in the education and training sector.
3. Women & Girl-child Empowerment Programme
This programme is designed to provide support and mentorship to young girls and women in rural and semi-rural areas. The programme is especially focused on those women and children with a history of abuse. Working together with the various social workers and other relevant NGO partners help women and young girls overcome their past abuse and empower them to become strong, independent, self-sufficient and successful powerhouses.
4. Citrus For Life Initiative
This is a partnership with various members from the Citrus Growers Association of South Africa. The programme is designed to assist rural communities in educating them on the benefits of a citrus inclusive diet for health and nutrition. Also included in the education programmes, is how citrus are the few fruits in which all parts of it can be used to create additional value-added products that can be sold to make an income.
Our current project, the “orange heart fruit drive” is a programme to supplement disadvantaged rural communities with Vitamin C to boost their immunity during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
5. The Mighty Gentlemen Initiatives
These are programmes designed to address various social ills that affect local communities especially GBV related issues and their root causes. The mission is to heal, educate, mentor, empower and groom young boys and men into a man who is a provider, protector, nurturer, educator and role model of his family and community.
